Repairing the folding inner screen of Apple’s iPhone Duo will cost $999 for owners without AppleCare+, according to Apple’s estimated repair costs. Apple published the estimates on 14 October 2026, as reported by MacRumors and The Verge.
Apple’s estimates without AppleCare+
According to The Verge, Apple’s estimated US repair costs without AppleCare+ are:
- Cover layer damage: $49
- Back glass damage: $199
- Battery service: $229
- Rear camera damage: $229
- Outer display damage: $379
- Outer display and back glass damage: $509
- Inner display damage: $999
- Other damage: $1,499
MacRumors reported the same figures for the cover layer, back glass, battery, both displays together, inner display and other damage. The cover layer is a replaceable layer on top of the inner folding display.
With AppleCare+
With AppleCare+, The Verge reported, the inner display costs $99 to repair and “other accidental damage” costs $99. MacRumors said battery service is free with AppleCare+ when the battery is below 80% capacity.
AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss for the iPhone Duo costs $19.99 a month, $199.99 a year or a one-off $399, according to The Verge.
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999. The Verge reported that pre-orders open on Friday at 8am ET, with the phone available on 23 October.
What this means
- Folding screens are costly to fix. The inner screen alone costs half the price of the phone.
- AppleCare+ makes a big difference. It cuts the inner screen repair from $999 to $99.
- Factor it into the price. Buyers should budget for cover or the risk of a big repair bill.
