Entire, the start-up led by former GitHub chief executive Thomas Dohmke, has opened a code-hosting service built for teams that write code with AI agents. The company calls it “the Git forge for agent-human collaboration”, and it replaces the familiar pull request with a system called Trails, in which AI agents score each code push.
The launch, announced on 26 October in a blog post by Dohmke, lets developers host repositories directly on Entire for the first time, or mirror them from GitHub. Entire says its Git-compatible server handles pushes “up to 89x faster than GitHub and 6x faster than Cursor Origin”. Those figures come from Entire’s own benchmarks and have not been independently tested.
In brief
- Entire now hosts Git repositories in the US, EU, Australia and India, and offers Trails, where review agents score every push.
- Buildkite and Depot CI connect to Entire from day one, so teams can run GitHub Actions-style workflows without GitHub.
- The speed and token-saving figures are Entire’s own; public repositories and self-hosting are not yet available, according to reports.
Trails swaps the pull request for agent scores
Dohmke argues that agents have broken the pull request. “The pull request has become an audit log that only the agent reads,” he wrote. Trails instead shows what Entire calls “a heads-up display similar to an airline pilot”, with evaluations that agents score on every push.
According to Entire, each review agent “runs independently in a cloud sandbox and submits a score and a rationale”. The company says it uses Security, Slop and Human Review Required checks on many of its own repositories, and that every project comes with ready-made agents for code quality, security and slop. Teams can write their own. Entire says the reviewers run on “Claude Code and Codex with the latest models”, in sandboxes from Daytona and E2B.
Agents can also flag findings and suggest fixes. Before a merge, teams can switch on Gates, which Entire says can require “human approvals and passing CI checks”. That matters because reviewing every line of agent output is the job Trails is trying to shrink, and a swarm of agents can produce more code than people can read.
The New Stack reports that the platform itself is free and that, according to Dohmke, customers pay only for the tokens the review agents use, with a $100 starter credit.
Native hosting in four regions, with CI from Buildkite and Depot
From launch, developers can create a repository on Entire or mirror one from GitHub. Entire says it is “live today in the US, EU, Australia, and India”, and that projects can be copied across regions or kept in one place for data-residency reasons. If GitHub has an outage, Entire says mirrored repositories keep serving clones and fetches from its regional copy.
The New Stack and GeekWire both report that native hosting covers private repositories only for now, with public repositories and self-hosting still on the roadmap. Entire’s blog says the service “is available for any developer today”.
Depot, one of two launch partners, confirmed the integration in its own post. “Today, Entire is launching its new Git forge publicly with Depot CI as one of its suggested CI providers on day one,” it wrote. A new command, depot ci migrate –forge=entire, copies GitHub Actions workflows across, and Depot says pushes to Entire trigger runs with “no GitHub round trip”. Buildkite’s documentation also lists an Entire integration, labelled as a preview, that builds on each push and reports results back as checks.
CI pipelines are also a security target. On 25 October Wiz published details of a campaign it calls Gheist, which it says uses stolen GitHub tokens to steal CI secrets.
Speed and memory claims rest on Entire’s own tests
Entire’s chart puts its server at 418 pushes per second, against 65 for Cursor, 15 for Pierre, 10 for GitLab and 4.7 for GitHub. The company says the numbers come from “our open-source benchmarks”, and it has published a load-testing tool called ForgeMark on GitHub. TSN has not run it.
The launch also adds what Entire calls Continuous Memory, built from two open-source plug-ins. Entire-graph maps how a codebase fits together and, Entire says, “in our testing saved up to 71% on tokens”. Entire-brain indexes past agent sessions so a new agent can pick up the reasons behind earlier changes. Both are published under the MIT licence.
Code hosts are now competing for agent traffic
Entire is not the only company pitching a new code host at agent-heavy teams. Cursor, whose Origin host Entire names in its speed claim, launched Origin in August, according to GeekWire, and opened an app marketplace for it this month, with Buildkite and Depot among the CI partners. Entire’s own pitch is that agent traffic needs scale, and that the centralised forge model is “not fit for the future”.
Entire’s case rests on two claims that outsiders cannot yet check. The first is speed, where every number so far is Entire’s own. The second is that agent scores can stand in for a human reading the diff. Entire itself hedges on the second point: it ships a Human Review Required check and lets teams demand human sign-off through Gates. Its review agents also run on paid models, so the cost of each check falls on users once the starter credit runs out, according to The New Stack.
GeekWire notes that the launch lands two days before GitHub’s Universe conference. For now, Entire’s offer is limited to private repositories, and Buildkite still labels its Entire integration a preview.
