Anthropic on 5 November 2026 began rolling out Personal Finance in Claude, a US beta that lets Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers connect bank, card, loan and investment accounts through Plaid and ask questions against their own balances and transactions, according to Anthropic’s product article and a matching Plaid blog post. Claude’s Help Center guide says the feature is available on Claude web, Desktop, iOS and Android, is not on Free, Team or Enterprise plans, and is rolling out gradually so some eligible users may not see it yet.
Both companies stress that Claude’s access is read-only. Anthropic says Personal Finance cannot move, manage or invest money; Plaid CTO Will Robinson writes that Plaid powers the connections and that Claude cannot move money. Users sign in to their bank themselves through Plaid, so Claude does not ask for or see bank passwords.
What Anthropic and Plaid say the beta includes
Anthropic says Personal Finance has no ads or sponsored recommendations and does not offer Anthropic credit cards, loans or savings products of its own. For linked accounts, Claude can see the bank’s name, each account’s name, type and last four digits, balances and credit limits, and up to two years — 24 months — of transactions. The Help Center caps linked institutions at 16 banks; reaching the limit means unlinking one before adding another.
Chats in the Personal Finance hub, Anthropic says, are not used to train models. Outside the hub, the user’s normal privacy settings apply. Accounts can be unlinked at any time, after which Claude can no longer see that data. Anthropic also warns that Claude can make mistakes on money answers and that users should check important figures with their bank; the feature is not designed to give investment advice.
Anthropic’s launch article walks through an illustrative demo: monthly spending of $4,309.37, food and drink of $1,024.51, and $1,393.22 left before payday. Those dollar amounts are Anthropic’s example narrative, not a real user’s data.
How this sits with other Claude product moves
TSN has covered other Anthropic product and policy steps including Claude Duet, Claude Haiku 5.5, and METR’s Anthropic R&D reporting. Those pieces concern agents, model tiers and evaluation work. The Personal Finance launch is a consumer money-read surface on paid US plans, wired through Plaid rather than a new Claude model release.
Plaid frames the launch as part of a wider “intelligent finance” push: it says Anthropic joins more than 800 AI companies building with Plaid, and cites its own research that most US consumers surveyed would share personal information with AI in financial services when they see a clear benefit. Those survey claims are Plaid’s own research figures.
What a read-only Claude money hub changes for users
The practical change is context, not custody. Eligible US users who connect accounts can ask spending, cash-flow and bill questions against synced transactions instead of hopping between bank apps — while Claude still cannot transfer funds, change investments or open Anthropic credit products. That boundary matters for anyone comparing this beta with write-capable fintech assistants: the companies’ own wording keeps Claude on the insight side of the ledger.
Limits still shape who benefits. Free, Team and Enterprise users are out; the rollout is gradual and US-only; investment holdings, trades, rates and loan terms are outside what Claude reads today even when Plaid screens may ask for broader consent. Hub chats stay off the training path, which is a clearer privacy line than a generic “we may use chats” setting — but only for conversations that stay inside that hub.
Whether Anthropic widens plans or countries, or offers a Team or Enterprise variant, will decide how far the feature travels beyond this US paid beta. The published offer remains a read-only US personal-finance pane on Pro, Max and Ultra, with Plaid as the pipe and Anthropic’s demo dollars labelled as illustration only.
