AI Insiders Tell Axios They Expect a Major Event Within 6-12 Months
Anthropic and OpenAI executives are gaming out a public backlash after a major AI incident, Axios reports. Insiders put the timing at 6 to 12 months.
Do AI Agents Need Elaborate Harnesses? A Minimal-Agent Study and Two New Toolkits
A preprint from EPFL researchers, listed on Apple's research site, finds a single minimal coding-agent session matched or beat elaborate machine-learning agent systems in its tests. Pasqal releases skills that let coding agents prepare quantum experiments, and Microsoft makes 30 Dynamics 365 CRM skills generally available, with Autopilot still in private preview.
Claude Agents Help Build a UV Sky Map as Studies Question Agent Scores
Anthropic says a team of Claude Science agents helped build the first complete UV map of the sky, about a third of it predicted rather than observed. A preprint finds agent benchmark scores can move because of the grader, not the agent, and Exa previews a search benchmark it designed and runs itself. What each one shows, and what it doesn't.
CrowdStrike Says Open-Source AI Tool ARTEX Was Used on Korean Banks
CrowdStrike says an unnamed, likely Chinese-speaking attacker used ARTEX, an open-source AI penetration-testing agent, alongside several AI models to steal data from South Korean financial firms. What CrowdStrike found, what Korean investigators say, and what it does not prove.
OpenAI’s Revenue Run Rate Is Reportedly Nearer $50bn, Not $70bn: What “Annualised” Means
Update, 9 Oct 2026: Bloomberg reports that OpenAI expects to reach or exceed $70bn in annualised revenue by the end of the year, citing people familiar with the matter. That is a projection, not current revenue, and OpenAI declined to comment. The Financial Times reports that OpenAI told investors its annualised revenue was "approaching $50 billion" at the end of September, about $20bn below figures reported last month. What "annualised" means, why OpenAI and Anthropic count differently, and what the report does not prove.
AI Agent Security, 8 October (Evening): Disputed AgentCore Research, Claude Code’s Fail-Closed Hooks and Malware Aimed at AI Analysts
Three agent-security stories from 8 October. Zenity says one prompt to an exposed AWS AgentCore agent could lead to control of every agent in the same account and region, and AWS disputes it. Claude Code adds an option that blocks an action when a safety hook fails. Cisco Talos finds malware that writes to AI analysts. What each shows, and what it does not.
Same Model, Different Score: Training AI Inside the Coding Tools People Actually Use
Hugging Face's FineEnvs team has released an open framework that turns unmodified coding-agent harnesses such as Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode into reinforcement-learning environments. In its own tests, one small model scored 62% in one harness and 33% in another. What a harness is, how the training works, and what the results do and do not show.
Broadcom and Anthropic’s $60bn chip debt: supplier, lender and guarantor in one filing
Tech Times reports on Anthropic’s IPO prospectus that Broadcom is chip supplier, lessor, convertible lender and residual-value guarantor for a ~$60bn debt syndication tied to a ~$125.2bn TPU lease. Figures are from secondary coverage of the filing.
AI Models Still Lack a Memory That Updates and Forgets Across Chats
A model can answer as if it knows you. It doesn't. Close the chat and the facts leave with it. A long prompt is not a memory, and a cache is not a memory.
The Ethics Engine: How AI Safety Became the Industry Most Valuable Feature
The artificial intelligence industry has reached an inflection point that few predicted and fewer prepared for. After years of unchecked capability expansion, the conversation has shifted from...
