Mastercard and BVNK have launched Mastercard Global Money Platform, bringing Mastercard’s global payments capabilities together with BVNK’s stablecoin infrastructure through a single API. The companies announced the product in a Business Wire release dated 15 October 2026. It is the first major integration of Mastercard and BVNK capabilities since Mastercard’s acquisition of BVNK in August 2026, and the platform is available now through BVNK.
What the platform is meant to do
Global Money Platform is described as a full-stack, modular infrastructure layer. Banks, fintechs and enterprises can embed multi-currency accounts — including fiat and stablecoins — real-time conversion, stablecoin-linked cards and local bank payouts through Mastercard Move into their own products under their own brand. They can also use the platform to manage their own treasury, payments and settlement directly.
At the centre is the “global money account”: a multi-currency account where fiat and stablecoins can sit side by side, with conversion between the two through one API. Customers can start with the capabilities they need and add more as they become available, the companies said, reducing the need to stitch together separate providers for each part of the money journey.
First integrators
Payments firm Nuvei and card-issuing platform Marqeta will be among the first to integrate, alongside Ontop, Beem and Almond FinTech.
Reach figures — company statements
The release ties the platform to Mastercard Move, Mastercard’s portfolio of global money-movement capabilities “reaching more than 17 billion endpoints,” enabling users to leverage stablecoin balances for local-currency payments into recipients’ bank accounts. Coverage is “expected to expand to more than 40 currencies across 200-plus countries and territories in 2027.”
Customers will be able to spend stablecoin balances across Mastercard’s merchant acceptance network, with card issuing “available across 130-plus countries,” the companies said.
What comes later
Mastercard plans future support for agentic commerce and additional regulated forms of money, including tokenized deposits. Those are forward-looking items, not features the release presents as live today.
BVNK’s own documentation describes Direct, Embedded and Self-managed delivery models, and lists use cases from embedded multi-currency accounts to 24/7 treasury payouts via Mastercard Move without pre-funding. Product docs are secondary colour; the Business Wire release remains the announcement primary.
What the executives said
Phil Fayer, chair and CEO of Nuvei, said the future of global commerce depends on money moving “across borders, currencies and increasingly, between traditional and digital forms of money,” and that stablecoins are becoming an important part of that future.
Chris Harmse, co-founder and chief business officer at BVNK, said Global Money Platform delivers on the promise to connect BVNK’s technology with Mastercard’s scale, and will become “the single infrastructure layer not just for stablecoins, but for every form of money.”
Raj Dhamodharan, Mastercard executive vice president for Blockchain and Digital Assets, said: “We believe the future of commerce will be built on interoperability across multiple forms of money. Global Money Platform brings together Mastercard’s trusted payment infrastructure and reach with BVNK’s stablecoin capabilities, giving businesses a single foundation to move value across traditional and digital ecosystems.”
Why it matters
Stablecoin rails and card/payout networks have mostly lived in separate stacks. A post-acquisition single API from Mastercard and BVNK is a concrete attempt to let treasurers and fintechs hold, convert and pay across both without pre-funding a patchwork of local accounts.
TSN has covered adjacent European stablecoin regulation (EBA naming USDC a significant e-money token under MiCA), bank-backed euro stablecoin licensing (Qivalis), and Polygon’s Coinme acquisition — different pieces of the same payments-and-stablecoin convergence.
Caveats
Move endpoint counts, 2027 currency coverage and card-issuing footprint are company statements. Agentic commerce and tokenized-deposit support are future plans. The release does not disclose pricing, volumes or which stablecoins are supported on day one beyond the product framing; BVNK docs mention rewards on USDC and OUSD among other capabilities.
