Ledger Opens Reservations for Atom, a Data-Only Security and Privacy Device With Solana Mobile

Ledger has opened reservations for Ledger Atom, a new security and privacy device revealed at the company’s Op3n 2026 event in Paris. Solana Mobile, in a press release dated 15 October 2026, said it is Ledger’s first hardware expansion partner and that Atom will ship with Solana Mobile’s Seeker app preinstalled. Ledger’s product page says Founders Edition units are scheduled to ship in summer 2027.

Atom looks like a phone and runs everyday Android apps, but Ledger is explicit: it is not a smartphone. It is a data-only mobile device with 4G/5G for data only — no cellular voice calls, SMS or emergency-service calls.

What Atom is

According to Solana Mobile, Atom “leverages Android Open Source Project (AOSP) alongside a Secure Element (EAL6+) running Ledger OS, with the display and touch control physically isolated from the Android operating system.” Ledger’s shop page frames the same split: hardened AOSP for everyday apps, and Isolated Ledger OS on a Common Criteria EAL6+ chip that is “ready for post-quantum cryptography.”

When a user is about to approve a payment or other sensitive action, the device shifts into Secure Mode. Ledger OS takes over the Secure Screen; camera, microphone and other sensors turn off; and a Secure Bar at the top of the display — which only the secure element can write — shows that Secure Mode is active. A separate Ledger OS PIN confirms the user before sensitive actions complete.

A physical Privacy Switch can cut the cameras and microphones at the circuit level. Ledger’s FAQ lists a 6.77-inch AMOLED trusted display, a 4,000 mAh battery, fingerprint sensor, 5G eSIM-only cellular data, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, NFC and USB-C. Spare parts are to remain available for seven years after the last device is sold.

Solana Mobile partnership

Solana Mobile said the Solana dApp Store and wallet are combined into one Seeker app on Atom. Signing and approvals in Seeker will happen in Secure Mode. The company says 1,500-plus dApps available on Seeker today — spanning trading, payments, gaming and AI — will come to Atom. Atom will be sold only on Ledger’s official site, and Solana Mobile highlighted advanced anti-tampering and tamper-evident packaging and enclosure checks.

Ian Rogers, Ledger’s chief human agency officer, said Seeker “made self-custody feel natural on mobile” and that having the Seeker app on Atom from day one “just makes sense.” Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder and CEO of Solana Labs, said Seeker had shipped “over a thousand apps with billions in transaction volume from over 100,000 users,” and that Solana Mobile is expanding that ecosystem with Ledger.

Prices — credit The Verge and Cointelegraph

Dollar sticker prices were not confirmed as product prices on the Ledger shop HTML checked for this draft. The Verge reported a Founders Edition price of US$849 with a refundable US$100 deposit, rising to US$899 after launch. Cointelegraph likewise reported an US$849 device expected to ship in summer 2027. Ledger’s own page describes a two-step payment — a deposit at reservation and the balance when purchase completes — and says the deposit is refundable if the buyer cancels before paying the balance. Treat the dollar figures as Verge and Cointelegraph reporting unless Ledger publishes them on the reservation page.

Why the timing matters

Atom arrives while Ledger is still dealing with fallout from the CryptoBilis reseller case — unauthorized hardware implants, reseller investigations, and retailers such as MediaMarktSaturn pulling Ledger products. Solana Mobile’s emphasis on direct-only sales and tamper-evident packaging is clearly aimed at that supply-chain risk. TSN has covered the CryptoBilis implant confirmation, Ledger’s reseller pause, MediaMarktSaturn’s removal, and the disputed change of ownership at the reseller.

For users, the pitch is a single slab that can run ordinary apps and still force human approval of crypto and agent actions on a trusted screen. For Solana Mobile, it is the first step beyond its own Seeker hardware after opening the Solana Mobile Stack to Android manufacturers in March 2026.

Caveats

Shipping is summer 2027 — about nine months out. Regulatory approvals (FCC in the US, Radio Equipment Directive in the EU) condition delivery. Network bands differ by regional SKU and are subject to change; Ledger does not guarantee operator compatibility. App availability depends on certifications and licences before ship. AI agents and many crypto services are third-party.
