Town Hits $1 Billion Valuation With $108M Series B for Team AI

Town said on 19 October 2026 that it has raised a $108 million Series B valuing the company at $1 billion, co-led by Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures. Existing backers Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and First Round Capital also participated. For workplaces already using personal AI helpers, the bet is that assistants that can talk to each other across a team — not only to one user’s inbox — will clear the waiting that still slows collaborative work.

The product names those assistants Townies. Each Townie connects to its person’s email, docs, calendar and core systems, then can ask other Townies questions, hand off work and, with permission, deal with customers, partners and candidates over email and text. Growth metrics in the release are Town’s own claims.

In brief

  • Town raised $108 million Series B at a $1 billion valuation, co-led by Forerunner and Menlo; a16z and First Round participated (GlobeNewswire, 19 October 2026).
  • Pitch: per-person “Townie” assistants that collaborate across a team while sharing only what that person would share.
  • Company claims: public launch June 2026 with a $55m Series A and seven-digit ARR “in weeks”; since July, paying customers 4× and paying teams 9×.

What a Townie is supposed to do

Town argues that solo AI productivity has already sped up individuals, but most work still waits on teammates — an updated model from finance, access from ops, input from sales. Personal assistants know one user; team bots see shared channels but not inboxes. Townies are meant to sit in the middle: each works for one person, yet can coordinate with others.

The company says a Townie shares only what that person would share, asks permission when needed, and escalates decisions that need a human. Shared workflows are also on offer: update a process once (for example competitive battle cards) and every rep’s Townie picks up the change for call prep. Townies can also work outside the company over email and text with customers, partners and candidates.

CEO and co-founder Jean-Denis Greze said AI has made each person faster alone and that Townies can now “make teams faster together.” Menlo partner Shawn Carolan said Town had “wisely chosen business over pleasure,” contrasting work assistants with consumer life-admin bots.

Trust, models and the growth claims

Town says each company owns the context its Townies build, that it uses models from major AI labs without locking customers to one, and that by default nothing a customer connects trains a model. It also cites SOC 2 Type 2 compliance and a public data processing agreement — points aimed at security and procurement teams as much as at end users.

On traction, the release states that Town launched publicly in June 2026 with a $55 million Series A and “reached 7-digits of ARR in weeks,” and that since July 2026 paying customers have grown 4× and paying teams 9×. Those figures are company claims; the release does not publish a customer list or audited ARR.

Other participants named include Better Tomorrow Ventures, Precedent.vc, Scribble Ventures, Serena Ventures, Sparked Ventures and several angels. Forerunner and Menlo co-led the new round that puts the headline valuation at a billion dollars.

Our read

This is another Series B in the agent stack, aimed at multi-person coordination rather than a single-user chatbot. The compliance angle — default no training on connected data, SOC 2, DPA — is doing as much sales work as the “Townies talk to each other” demo. Watch whether the 4×/9× growth claims show up in named logos or retention numbers; until then, treat them as founder metrics attached to a $1 billion mark.
