Revolut says it is dealing with a service disruption that is affecting multiple services, leaving customers unable to rely on core features such as card payments, transfers and signing in to the app. “We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services. We can confirm that all our customers’ money and data are safe,” the company said in a statement reported by BleepingComputer on Tuesday 20 October.
For customers, the immediate problem is access rather than security. Revolut’s own system status page showed a long list of services affected when TSN checked at about 11:45 BST, and the company has not said what caused the disruption or when it expects full service to return.
In brief
- Revolut says a service disruption is affecting multiple services, and that “all our customers’ money and data are safe”.
- Its status page lists sign-ins, card payments, transfers, ATM withdrawals, currency exchange and live support chat among the affected services.
- Revolut has not given a cause or a time for full restoration; at about 11:45 BST the status page still showed the incident as under investigation.
What Revolut’s status page shows
The scale of the disruption is visible on Revolut’s status page. According to BleepingComputer, the page said the outage “affects 28 services, including sign-ins, card payments, transfers, currency exchange, stock trading, and live support chat, which are now flagged as partially unavailable.”
When TSN checked the UK page, each affected service carried the same timestamp, “Detected: 20 Oct 2026, 07:47 UTC”, which is 08:47 BST. The list also included sign-up, ATM withdrawals, identity verification, internal transfers, cryptocurrency, vault access and several business products. Each entry carried the same message: “Our team is investigating and working on a fix. We apologise for the inconvenience and will update the status page as soon as the issue is resolved.”
The effects reached payment partners too. The payments company Mollie’s status page says that “Revolut is experiencing a full disruption affecting iDEAL | Wero payments, which will cause consumers to experience failures when attempting to complete payments”, an issue it marked as identified at 07:19 UTC (08:19 BST).
No cause given, and money “safe”
Revolut has not explained what went wrong. BleepingComputer said a Revolut spokesperson was not immediately available when it asked about the root cause. In its statement, the company said: “We’ve been working to fix the issue since it was identified this morning and apologise to anyone affected and for any inconvenience caused.”
Users noticed quickly. BleepingComputer reported that thousands of users on the Downdetector outage-tracking platform reported problems with the Revolut app, mobile banking and transferring funds between accounts. The disruption touches a large customer base: Revolut provides services to more than 80 million customers across more than 160 countries and regions, according to BleepingComputer.
The disruption comes as Revolut expands into regulated crypto services elsewhere; TSN recently reported that Gibraltar granted Revolut a DLT permission.
Our read
This is TSN’s analysis. Revolut’s message focuses on reassuring customers that funds and data are safe, which is the right first answer, but it leaves the questions customers care about next unanswered: what failed and when service will be fully back. The status page is the place to watch for the all-clear.
