SEC Sets November Roundtable on Super Intelligence and Machine-Readable Data

The US Securities and Exchange Commission will hold a public roundtable on 9 November 2026 on how machine-understandable data and Super Intelligence (SI) are being used in markets, and on the risks and costs that come with them, it announced on 19 October. For investors, filers and firms building AI tools on regulatory data, it is an early chance to shape how the regulator thinks about SI.

The event is about input, not new rules. The SEC says the feedback will tell its staff how the market and the investing public use machine-readable data for SI, and how the Commission “can better facilitate SI”.

In brief

  • The SEC will host a public roundtable on 9 November 2026 on machine-understandable data and Super Intelligence, and the related risks and costs.
  • It runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern time at SEC headquarters in Washington, DC, and will be streamed live on SEC.gov.
  • The release does not list panellists in its text; the agenda is on the SEC’s event page, and no rule proposal is attached.

Why the SEC wants to hear from the market

Joshua White, the SEC’s chief economist and director of its Division of Economic and Risk Analysis, framed the session around data quality. “In the age of SI, high-quality information is critical,” he said, adding that the roundtable will look at “the public’s use of machine-understandable data and SI along with associated risks and costs.”

That focus matters because SI tools increasingly read filings, disclosures and market data directly rather than through human analysts. If the data the SEC collects is easy for machines to parse, it is more useful to those tools. White said feedback from market participants will show staff how that data is being used and inform how the Commission can better facilitate SI.

The SEC’s use of the term “Super Intelligence” follows the White House’s own framing. TSN has covered the White House Super Intelligence Force’s charter and its position that AI companies must report security incidents, so the roundtable fits a wider federal push to set expectations for SI.

How to attend or watch

The roundtable is open to the public at the SEC’s headquarters, 100 F Street NE, Washington, DC, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern time (14:00 to 20:30 UK time). The SEC warns that in-person places may be limited and visitors face security checks. It will be streamed live on SEC.gov, with a recording available later, and the full agenda is on the SEC’s event page.

Our read

This is a listening exercise, but a telling one: the SEC is treating machine-readable data as infrastructure for SI rather than a side issue for filers. For compliance and RegTech teams, the useful signal will be what the SEC staff ask about risks and costs on the day. Watch the 9 November discussion for hints of future data-format requirements or guidance.
