Daytona, a San Francisco start-up that runs cloud computers for AI agents, has raised a $60 million Series B at a $1 billion valuation, according to an exclusive report by Fortune on 20 October 2026. FirstMark led the round, Fortune and Tech.eu reported.
The deal makes Daytona a unicorn on a simple idea: AI agents that write code or use software need their own safe computers to work in. Co-founder and chief executive Ivan Burazin told Fortune that about $50 million of the round came from existing investors, and that total funding now stands at about $91 million. TSN has not seen a company release; the figures come from the two reports.
In brief
- Daytona has raised a $60m Series B at a $1bn valuation led by FirstMark, according to Fortune and Tech.eu, bringing its total funding to about $91m.
- Angel investors include Patrick Collison, Tobi Lütke, Aravind Srinivas, Adam D’Angelo and Eric Yuan.
- Daytona says its revenue run rate grew 25-fold between January and September; that figure is the company’s own.
The round
The round “was led by FirstMark, with participation from Patrick Collison (Stripe), Adam D’Angelo (Quora), Brendan Foody (Mercor), Tobi Lütke (Shopify), Olivier Pomel (Datadog), Aravind Srinivas (Perplexity) and Eric Yuan (Zoom)”, Tech.eu reported. Other backers include Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung Next and Okta Ventures. Existing investors increased their commitments, with Pace Capital doubling, Upfront Ventures tripling and E2VC quadrupling theirs, according to Tech.eu.
“We believe the next infrastructure shift is from human-centric cloud primitives to agent-native ones,” said Matt Turck, a partner at FirstMark, in a statement quoted by Fortune.
What Daytona sells
Daytona provides isolated computing environments, or sandboxes, in which agents can run code, use tools and complete tasks. Companies launch them through a single API on Linux, Windows or macOS, and agents can pause, resume or try different approaches without losing progress, Tech.eu reported.
Burazin told Fortune that Daytona can configure a new sandbox in 60 milliseconds, by pre-distributing snapshots of configured machines onto servers. Agents can also clone a running machine to test approaches in parallel. “You can literally replicate the computer into two and try both outcomes,” he said.
According to the reports, Daytona supplies infrastructure to Anthropic, OpenAI, NVIDIA, Cursor and Cognition, and also counts Meta and Cohere as customers. Daytona says AI data company Snorkel has provisioned more than one million sandboxes on its platform.
“Companies are going to manage thousands of digital employees, and each one needs a safe place to fail,” Burazin said, as quoted by Tech.eu.
Growth and a pivot
Burazin told Fortune that the revenue run rate grew 25-fold between January and September. “We’ve been growing on average every single month 50.9%,” he said. These are the company’s own figures; Daytona has disclosed no revenue.
The company was founded in 2023 by Burazin, Goran Draganić and Vedran Jukić to automate software development environments. When they saw agents would need computers too, Burazin told Fortune, they “basically gave our competitors all our customers, rebuilt everything, had like three months left of revenue in the bank, and then relaunched this thing.”
Burazin also predicted a coming shortage of server CPUs as agents multiply. He told Fortune Daytona will spend most of the money on go-to-market hiring, plus some engineers. Tech.eu said hiring is planned across San Francisco, Croatia and Singapore.
Our read
Sandboxes for agents have become a crowded field, with Perplexity open-sourcing its own platform and Modal moving onto new CPUs. Daytona’s customer list and speed claims give it a strong position. But a 25-fold run-rate jump from an undisclosed base says little about scale, and the valuation rests on agent usage keeping its current pace.
