Anthropic Reportedly Has an Unannounced Multiyear Cloud Deal With IREN, The Information Says

REPORTED, NOT CONFIRMED: The Information reported, citing people familiar with the relationship, that Anthropic has an unannounced multiyear cloud deal with IREN. Neither Anthropic nor IREN has commented. The value and length of the reported deal have not been disclosed.

Anthropic reportedly has an unannounced multiyear cloud computing deal with IREN (Nasdaq: IREN), a former bitcoin miner that now rents out AI computing capacity. The Information reported this in its AI Infrastructure newsletter by Ann Davis Vaughan on 11 October 2026 [1]. The article is behind a paywall; TSN quotes it here only as cited by AI Weekly [2] and by Stocktwits, published on Yahoo Finance [3].

What the report says

“People familiar with the relationship say Anthropic also has an unannounced multiyear cloud deal with IREN,” The Information said, according to AI Weekly [2][3].

The report said Anthropic’s push to add computing capacity “increasingly depends on current and former bitcoin miners such as Hut 8, TeraWulf, IREN and Nscale” [2][3]. Bitcoin miners often already have large power connections and sites, which AI data centres need.

The report also estimated that, at one unnamed site, “Bringing the site’s 245 MW of usable capacity online one month early would add $1.3bn+ in revenue” [2]. That estimate is about a different, unnamed site, not about IREN.

AI Weekly said the reporting “does not disclose the dollar value or term of the IREN agreement” [2]. “Neither Anthropic nor IREN has commented on the reported partnership,” Stocktwits said [3].

What IREN has confirmed

IREN has not named Anthropic. In its results for the year to 30 June 2026, published on 27 August 2026, IREN said it had “Signed a new multi-year AI Cloud contract with a leading frontier AI lab”, without naming the lab [4]. It listed “Other recent signings including Cohere, Prometheus, Perplexity, Figure AI, Fal AI and Higgsfield AI” [4].

On the earnings call, Co-CEO Daniel Roberts referred to “a leading frontier AI lab whose name we’re not able to disclose just yet”, Stocktwits reported [3]. The idea that this unnamed lab is Anthropic comes from the report and market speculation; IREN has not said so.

IREN also said [4]:

• “$4bn contracted ARR for 2026 capacity; $1bn ARR operating today”. ARR, or annualised run-rate revenue, is IREN’s own operating metric: roughly what contracted capacity would earn over a year at current pricing. IREN says it is “not a U.S. GAAP measure” (not standard accounting revenue) and that “recognized revenue may be materially lower”.
• “2026: capacity largely sold out”.
• In the quarter to 30 June 2026, revenue from AI Cloud Services was $70.5m, ahead of Bitcoin mining revenue of $66.7m.

What happens next

Neither company has confirmed the reported deal. TSN will update this story if Anthropic or IREN comments, or if IREN names the frontier AI lab customer.
