Apple is adding AI assistants to four of the apps in Apple Creator Studio, its subscription bundle for video, music, image and office work. The company said on 27 October that Logic Pro for Mac, Keynote, Pages and Numbers will each get an assistant in beta, and that the update will arrive on the App Store “this November as a free update for existing subscribers”.
The assistants are not purely Apple’s own. Apple says the Logic Pro version is “powered by a combination of Apple-built models and OpenAI”, and that the one in Keynote, Pages and Numbers is “built on Apple models and OpenAI”.
“This is our most exciting update since the launch of Apple Creator Studio,” said Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple’s senior director of worldwide product marketing for apps and iCloud. He said the assistants “are going to change the game for how people interact with and learn to use these apps”.
What the assistants and MCP will do
In Logic Pro, Apple says the assistant can help producers “start a new song, set up a vocal track from a single prompt, or refine an active project”. In Keynote it helps design, animate and refine slides; in Pages it drafts and restructures text; and in Numbers it builds tables, organises data and suggests chart types.
Keynote, Pages and Numbers also gain support for Model Context Protocol, or MCP, an open way for AI tools to connect to other software. Apple says it “enables external AI agents and tools to read content, perform edits, and execute automated actions” inside the three apps. Keynote also adds a new open file format, .keyx, which Apple describes as JSON-based and “readable and accessible to external tools, developer workflows, and AI agents”.
The limits are tight at first. Both assistants are in beta and available in U.S. English only. The Logic Pro assistant needs macOS 27 on a Mac that supports Apple Intelligence, and MCP in the office apps needs macOS 27 or later.
The creative tools in the update
Pixelmator Pro gets Generate Fill, which lets users circle part of an image and describe the change they want. Logic Pro’s Stem Splitter can now isolate, replace or rebalance drum parts “without needing the original multitracks”.
Final Cut Pro for Mac now builds in MotionVFX, a library that Apple says gives editors “thousands of elements” such as templates, titles and transitions. It also adds image generation from text descriptions and 23 new transcription languages for captions and search.
Pricing stays where it was. New subscribers pay $12.99 a month or $129 a year in the U.S., with a one-month free trial, and Apple’s product page lists the same figures.
Apple is mixing its own models with OpenAI’s
The OpenAI role is the telling detail. Apple’s support page already says Creator Studio’s Generate Presentation feature in Keynote “is powered by OpenAI”, while image, shape and presenter-notes generation are “powered by Google Cloud”. The new assistants extend that mix rather than replacing it with Apple-only models.
That is a practical choice for a paid product. Apple has been widening its Siri AI beta to more languages, but for the document and music assistants in Creator Studio it is pairing its own models with OpenAI’s. Apple’s support page says the third-party features are labelled and need no account with the provider.
MCP may matter more over time than the assistants themselves. By letting outside agents edit Keynote, Pages and Numbers files, Apple is opening its office apps to AI tools it does not make. Rivals are moving fast too: Canva has released its first in-house image model for its design software. Apple has not said whether MCP access needs a subscription.
U.S. English only is the first hurdle
For readers outside the U.S., including in the UK, the headline features will not be fully available at launch, because both assistants are limited to U.S. English. Apple’s release gives U.S. prices only. The company holds a second launch event in Los Angeles on 28 October, and how quickly the assistants reach other languages will show how central Apple thinks they are to the bundle.
