AI Infrastructure Check: CoreWeave Enters India, Bell’s 1.2 GW Plan, Applied Digital’s Debt and Meta’s 4,500 MW Louisiana Load
CoreWeave plans 240 MW in Navi Mumbai, Bell Canada's Regina campus could reach 1.2 GW with its own gas plant, and Applied Digital reported $341.9 million in quarterly revenue alongside $6.4 billion of debt. Meanwhile the bond financing Meta's Louisiana data centre hit a record low, and Entergy's CEO let slip that the site will draw 4,500 MW. What each company confirmed, and what is reported.
Who Pays for AI’s Power? Duke’s Data-Centre Deal, Google in Indiana and the Rush to On-Site Gas
Duke Energy, Amazon, Google and Microsoft have filed a North Carolina settlement that makes big data centres pay upfront, sign 10–15 year contracts and accept some power cuts. Indiana approved Google paying the full cost of serving a 390 MW site, and a bipartisan Senate bill would make data centres pay for the grid upgrades they trigger. And gas equipment is being shipped straight to AI projects: a 380 MW Doosan turbine for SpaceXAI and 282 MW of Wärtsilä engines. What is agreed and what still needs approval.
Cyber Breaches: SoftBank Cloud Ransomware, Qilin’s 53 Japanese Victims, Asos’s Bigger Leak and Denmark’s Register
A ransomware attack on SoftBank's IDC Frontier knocked out services for 495 customers, halting Nissui's logistics and Ibaraki's websites. Japan's police say Qilin has hit 53 Japanese firms. MrMax, GMO's infoQ and Nikkei disclosed breaches; Asos says hackers took detailed customer profiles; Oracle Health's count may near 20 million; and Denmark says its population register was looked up for 8.8 million people. What each organisation confirmed.
AI Agent Security: A Hijacked SDK Goes After Agent Keys as Copilot, Bitdefender and Citadel Add Guardrails
A hijacked release of the tensorlake npm package stole tokens and AI-tool config files, and booby-trapped the stolen GitHub token so that revoking it wipes the victim's home folder. The same week, GitHub made local sandboxing for Copilot generally available, Bitdefender released a free agent guard for macOS, and Citadel AI opened early access to agent monitoring. LangChain and past.dev shipped agent tooling with access controls built in. What each one confirms.
Cyber breaches, 8 October: court files, hijacked domains, a patched-but-probed flaw, church records and a $10m reward
Arizona’s courts confirm data on 1.3 million people was copied; ccTLD registry hijacks let attackers obtain certificates for Google and other domains; exploitation attempts follow a public Atlassian PoC; Yoido Full Gospel Church confirms 850,000 members’ data exposed; the Double Counter Discord bot is breached; a MonsterCloud owner is charged; and the US offers $10m for accused HAFNIUM hacker Zhang Yu. Confirmed vs alleged, case by case.
Quantum and wallet keys: Europol says the risk is exposed keys, and Ethereum researchers urge a careful move
Europol’s cybercrime centre says the quantum threat to crypto sits with exposed wallet keys, not blockchains, and urges a phased upgrade now. Separately, Ethereum researcher Justin Drake calls for “bunker mode” over AI-driven maths, with Vitalik Buterin backing caution. What is analysis, what is opinion, and what has not been broken.
Data-Centre Build-Out and Pushback: AirTrunk’s $1B Japan Expansion and Finland’s Halt on Google Groundwork
AirTrunk is adding $1B to its 300MW+ TOK1 campus in Japan for liquid-cooled AI, backed by a green loan. In Finland, the regulator has told Google's subsidiary to stop groundwork at two data-centre sites until environmental reviews finish. What each confirms and what it shows about where AI infrastructure can be built.
Type a Game, Hire an Agent: Google’s Playground and Meta’s Muse on iPad
Google launched Playground, an experimental site that turns text prompts into playable browser games (US, 18+), with Unity tools to come. Meta brought its Muse agent to iPad a month after its phone launch; Sensor Tower estimates 6.6M+ installs. What each does and what to watch.
Fences for AI Agents: Microsoft’s Execution Containers and AWS’s Strands Box
Microsoft made its Execution Containers generally available on Windows 11 as it rebuilds Windows for local and cloud "hybrid" AI, and opened Surface Laptop Ultra pre-orders from $2,599. AWS open-sourced Strands Box, a sandbox that enforces rules such as "no git push" whatever the agent decides. What an enforced sandbox does, in plain words.
Musk Says Tesla and SpaceX Will Build and Run Terafab, With TSMC Limited to a Sublease
Elon Musk says Tesla and SpaceX will build and run the Terafab AI chip complex in Texas, with TSMC at most subleasing part of it. Intel's CEO says Intel remains involved. What was said, what Terafab is, and the open questions.
