Sriram Krishnan Is Reported to Be Targeting a $500 Million First Venture Fund

What was reported

Reported (The Information, Leo Schwartz), not confirmed by Krishnan. The headline reads “Ex-Trump AI Adviser Sriram Krishnan Targets Raising a $500 Million Venture Fund” [2]. The outlet’s post on X says: “After stints at Andreessen Horowitz and the White House, Sriram Krishnan is launching his own venture firm and targeting a $500 million first fund.” [1] TSN could see only the headline and byline, not the article text.

What “targeting” means

A “first fund” is the first pool of outside money a new venture firm collects to invest, and a “target” is the amount it hopes to raise, not money already raised.

Has anyone else reported it?

Yes, earlier. On 7 October Axios reported that Krishnan, “who stepped down in June as the White House’s senior policy advisor on AI, is seeking to raise around $500 million for a new venture capital fund, Axios has learned.” It added that the fund “doesn’t yet have a name” [3]. Axios did not say who told it, so this is a second report of the same plan, not a confirmation. TSN found no statement from Krishnan or Andreessen Horowitz, and no denial. His X posts from 6 to 10 October do not mention one.

What this does not show

  • A confirmation. Nothing public from Krishnan.
  • A firm. None is named.
  • Investors or a close date. None are reported.
  • Committed capital. A target is a goal, not money pledged or raised.

The Bottom Line

Two outlets report that Krishnan is working toward a fund of around $500 million. Until he says so, it is a report of a plan.
