Tenstorrent Closes a $1.5 Billion Series E at a $6.2 Billion Valuation

In brief

  • Tenstorrent (19 October 2026) says it has closed $1.5 billion in Series E funding at a $6.2 billion post-money valuation.
  • For open-weight and on-prem AI builders, the company says the cash will fund Galaxy servers at scale, keep serving open-weight LLMs and video models, and advance the AI and CPU IP it licenses to chip designers.
  • What’s still unknown: how the round splits across manufacturing versus IP, and what commercial Galaxy volume looks like after the raise.

CEO Jim Keller’s pitch is simple: one architecture sold “at every size,” from cards to superclusters. A $1.5bn cheque is the market’s bet that an open RISC-V AI stack can take share beside the usual GPU incumbents.

Who led the round?

The company says the round was led by Trace Capital and Innovation X, with participation from new and existing investors including Agostinelli Group, ARK Invest, Brett Barna, Cadence Ventures, Eclipse, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Maverick Silicon, Morgan Stanley, Protagonist, Sandisk, T. Rowe Price, Tether Investments, Troluce Capital, Virtu Financial and XTX Markets.

What will the money buy?

Tenstorrent says it will use the capital to “deploy Galaxy servers at scale, continuing to serve open-weight models across LLMs and video generation, and advance the AI and CPU IP it licenses to customers designing their own silicon.”

Beyond boxes, the company licenses its TT-Ascalon RISC-V CPU and Tensix AI cores to chip designers, naming Samsung and LG among licensees. That IP lane matters if you care about sovereign or custom silicon, not only cloud racks.

What did Keller say?

“We built one architecture and sell it at every size,” Keller said. “The future of compute is open, scalable, and owned by the people building on it. Our investors believe in that model too, and we appreciate their support.”

Trace Capital founder Ben Mahdavi said the firm was excited to partner “as Galaxy continues to scale.” Protagonist’s George Bousis said Tenstorrent’s video-generation results “beat industry benchmarks ahead of our expectations.”

Who is affected?

  • Open-weight model teams looking for non-GPU inference/training hardware with an open software story.
  • Enterprises evaluating on-prem latency and throughput claims against GPU stacks.
  • Chip designers already licensing or considering TT-Ascalon / Tensix IP.
  • Investors tracking AI-chip late-stage valuations after a $6.2bn mark.

Our read

A $6.2bn post-money Series E is a loud signal that late-stage capital is still underwriting full-stack AI silicon outside the CUDA monoculture — servers plus licensable RISC-V IP. The catch is execution: Galaxy volume, software maturity and whether Samsung/LG-style IP deals become a second revenue engine. Treat the valuation as company-stated until secondary marks catch up.

What’s still unknown?

  • Cap table detail beyond the named participants
  • Galaxy shipment or capacity targets tied to the raise
  • How much of the $1.5bn is earmarked for manufacturing versus IP R&D
