Waymo Starts Driverless Rides to and From Nashville’s Airport

Waymo has started driverless rides to and from Nashville International Airport.

“Starting today, we’re serving rides to and from @Fly_Nashville,” the company said via @Waymo on X on 13 October 2026. “We’ll roll out access over time—Nashville riders, keep an eye on your app; we’ll let you know when you’re in.”

That means not every rider can book an airport trip yet. Waymo will tell people in its app when they have access.

Waymo in Nashville

EV Magazine reported that Waymo began operating in Nashville in April 2026, and that since September people using the Lyft app in the city can also be matched with Waymo’s driverless cars.

The airport launch follows the opening of an 80,000-square-foot depot near the airport, run by Waymo and Lyft, EV Magazine reported. The site is designed for charging, cleaning and maintaining hundreds of autonomous vehicles. According to the companies, it is expected to create more than 70 full-time jobs in Nashville in 2026.

What this means

  • Airports matter for robotaxis. Airport trips are frequent and often long, so they are an important market for ride services.
  • It is a gradual rollout. Access will reach riders over time, not all at once.
  • The Lyft partnership is growing. The new depot near the airport supports both companies’ Nashville operations.
