Adani Enterprises and Jabil Sign a Non-Binding Deal to Plan a 50:50 AI and Data-Centre Hardware Venture in India

Adani Enterprises and the US manufacturer Jabil have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a proposed 50:50 joint venture to make AI and data-centre equipment in India, the companies said on 13 October 2026 [1].

The venture does not exist yet. The companies said it still depends on signing final agreements, getting the necessary approvals and meeting the usual conditions [1]. The MoU follows a statement of intent the two groups made in June 2026.

What the venture would make

The companies said the venture would make and assemble AI racks, servers, storage and networking equipment for data centres [1]. A rack is a tall cabinet that holds many computers stacked together. The plan also covers the equipment needed to power and cool them, such as power distribution units, liquid-cooling systems and transformers. The venture would also install and set up equipment.

According to the release, the venture is expected to have “multi-gigawatt” capacity for AI racks, meaning it could supply computing systems that together use several gigawatts of power [1].

Why India

The release cites industry forecasts that India’s data-centre capacity will reach 5 to 8 gigawatts (GW) by 2030 [1]. The companies estimate the global market at more than $3 trillion over the next seven years. That figure is their own estimate. They said the venture would serve buyers in India and support exports.

The release says the plan fits the Adani Group’s $100 billion commitment to build 5 GW of data centres by 2035 [1]. Jabil reported $36 billion in revenue in its 2026 financial year, the companies said.

What they said

Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani said: “Our proposed joint venture with Jabil marks a strategic step towards this future” [1].

Jabil chief executive Mike Dastoor said: “The signing of this MoU is the next step forward in our shared efforts to establish a scaled AI infrastructure manufacturing platform in India” [1].

What we don’t know

The companies did not say how much they will invest, where the factories will be, how many people they will employ or when production will start [1].

What this means

  • This is a plan, not a company. A non-binding MoU can still change or fall through before final agreements are signed.
  • India wants to build AI hardware, not just host it. The venture would add equipment making to Adani’s power and data-centre business.
  • Key details are missing. Without a cost, site or start date, it is too early to judge how big the venture will be.
