Trail of Bits is a security research and consulting company. Companies, governments and software projects hire firms like it to audit their code and systems and find weaknesses before attackers do.
Why it would matter
AI companies are moving further into security, both to protect their own systems and to sell AI tools that find and fix software flaws. Buying an established security team would give OpenAI experienced people in that field rather than building one from scratch. For now, though, this is a single report about talks, not an announced deal.
