Apple will announce a new smart home hub called the HomeView on Tuesday 13 October 2026, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. TechCrunch reported this on 11 October [1]. Apple has not announced the product or its name.
REPORTED: the product, its name and its details come from Gurman, as relayed by TechCrunch. Apple has not confirmed them. TSN has not seen Bloomberg’s original, which is paywalled [2].
What is reported
TechCrunch says Gurman described the HomeView as “a Siri-powered device with a display and an A18 chip”, which would let people control their other smart home devices [1]. It “will reportedly be available in two models — one designed for countertops and the other to be mounted on walls” [1].
Gurman also reports, per TechCrunch, that Apple will show updated versions of the Apple TV set-top box and the HomePod mini on Tuesday. Earlier this week, TechCrunch says, he reported that Apple plans to announce a partnership with LG to make a smart lock, a thermostat and a doorbell [1].
TechCrunch’s headline asks whether the HomeView will be Apple’s first smart home success. The article raises that question; TSN does not answer it. TechCrunch says only that this would be Apple’s “most serious bet on the smart home to date” [1].
Plain words
A smart home hub is a device that lets you control other connected gadgets in the home, such as lights, locks and thermostats, from one place, often by voice.
What Apple has said
Apple has confirmed a launch on Tuesday 13 October, with the tagline “Welcome home”. Greg Joswiak, its marketing chief, posted that on X on 8 October [3]. It named no products. MacRumors reported that some media were invited to an “Apple Experience” in New York on 13 October at 9:00 a.m. (14:00 in London), and that it was unclear whether there would be an event or a press release [4]. TSN has not found a time for any announcement.
TSN checked Apple’s Newsroom and Apple Events pages on the night of 11 October. They did not mention HomeView, “Welcome home” or 13 October.
What is not known
- Whether Apple will announce the HomeView on Tuesday, and in what form.
- Its price, features beyond the above, and when it would go on sale.
- Whether the LG products and the updated Apple TV and HomePod mini will appear.
TSN will not know the details until Apple speaks.
