CONFIRMED: announced on Google’s blog on 12 October 2026. Battery, accuracy, charging and weight figures are COMPANY CLAIMS that TSN has not tested.
Google has launched the Fitbit Edge, a slim fitness tracker with AI coaching. It costs $179.99, is on pre-order now from the Google Store and retail partners, and goes on sale in shops on 27 October [1].
Google says it sits between its Pixel Watch smartwatch and its screenless Fitbit Air band [1].
Key figures
- Battery: up to 7 days on one charge, and a full day of charge in 5 minutes when the battery is low [1]. COMPANY CLAIM.
- Workouts: recognises up to 100 workouts automatically, even if you forget to press start, and has more than 50 exercise modes [1]. COMPANY CLAIM.
- GPS: up to 40% improved accuracy over previous generations, even without your phone [1]. COMPANY CLAIM.
- Size: 11.5mm thin, with a case Google says is 45% lighter than the Apple Watch Series 12 [1]. COMPANY CLAIM.
- Repairs: Google’s first repairable fitness tracker, with a replaceable battery [1].
AI coaching costs extra
Google’s Health Coach on the Edge needs a Google Health Premium subscription, sold separately [1]. Buyers get three months of Premium free [1].
Health trends, not diagnosis
The tracker’s Health Guardian features watch for blood-pressure trends, insulin-resistance trends and high or low heart rate [1]. Google says these are for “general wellness and informational purposes only” and are “not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition” [1]. It also says they should not be used to change medication or treatment, and are not available everywhere [1].
What is a “trend” here? It means the device flags changes in your patterns over time. It does not give a clinical reading.
Stephen Curry edition
A Stephen Curry Special Edition, made with the basketball player, costs $219.99 [1].
